Racing Terminology: A Beginner's Glossary
From apex to undercut, the words commentators use, explained in plain English.

Pit stop
A stop in the pit lane for new tires, repairs or, in some series, fuel.
Undercut and overcut
The undercut means pitting before a rival to use fresh tires and gain time. The overcut means staying out longer and hoping the rival loses time on their out-lap.
DRS

Safety Car
A road car that leads the field at reduced speed after an incident, so marshals can work safely.
Parc fermé
French for "closed park." Rules that limit what teams can change on the car after qualifying.
Constructor
The team that builds the car. The Constructors' Championship is the team title.
